ORPHEUS reimagines the ancient Greek myth, setting the descent into the Underworld in the subway.
The story begins with Eurydice descending on her way to the Underworld/subway, exhausted by Orpheus’s immaturity and lack of commitment. She considers their relationship “dead.” They still love each other, but she needs a change and Orpheus’s commitment. Charon crosses her path and announces the imminent arrival of Orpheus, giving her hope for the change she needs and the chance to recover her partner.

Orpheus has one chance to rescue his love from the Underworld, on the condition that he keeps moving forward and does not look back—to not be a coward and to stand by his decision.

The narrative explores an internal and philosophical conflict. Orpheus descends into the Underworld convinced of what he wants. He manages to find Eurydice, and together they recover the hope to once again idealize their love.

The journey back to the surface—and toward real commitment—is too much for Orpheus. His fear of the future outweighs his love. In the tragic climax, Orpheus gives in to his weakness and turns around. This act of cowardice—the refusal to embrace the necessary change—breaks the promise and seals the fate of their love.

Ends with Orpheus emerging from the Underworld alone, looking back and condemning his “dead” relationship with Eurydice.
It asserts that their failure was not due to fate but to the weakness of his character, showing that what is “dead” cannot be revived.
